She has been called the top model of a new generation, a runway style icon and has been singled out by Karl Lagerfeld himself as a personal muse. And she is a native Dane, which fills me somewhat with national pride.
Freja Beha Erichsen has just been named the new face of Maybelline New York – the official makeup sponsor of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York City, which kicks off today in the big apple.
Freja will join a stellar lineup of spokeswomen including Christy Turlington, Julia Stegner, Erin Wasson, Kemp Muhl, Shu-Pei Qin, Emily DiDonato, and Charlotte Free.
As a Love the Look special here is a little Q&A with the ‘queen of cool’ Freja Beha Erichsen in which she names Maybelline favorites and few of her personal NY gems:
How do you define “beauty”? What makes a woman beautiful?
It’s hard to define. You can notice it in an instant with just a glance, or it can be deeper, like when she opens herself up and shares something very personal or inspiring.
Did you learn any beauty tips or tricks from your mother?
My mother taught me the beauty of a well-balanced diet. She raised me to eat a lot of organic fruits and vegetables.

What is it to be a Maybelline New York Spokesperson?
I’m very grateful to be given this opportunity and it’s a pleasure to be working with the talented creative team at Maybelline New York.
What was the first Maybelline New York product you ever used?
I was introduced to Maybelline New York products with Volum’ Express The Falsies mascara. It worked really well, and I loved the instant effect.
Do you have a favorite Maybelline New York product?
In addition to the mascara, Eye Studio Master Drama eyeliner is one of my favorite products.
ON YOUR FAVORITES AND NEW YORK CITY
What does New York City mean to you?
New York feels like home to me now. It's full of creative people and there's always so much to do and see. It's an inspiring place—tough and romantic at the same time.
What are your favorite places to shop for clothes in New York City and why?
Barney's Co-Op and What Goes Around Comes Around, a vintage shop in SoHo, are two of my favourites. Barney's Co-Op has a great selection of current trends, and I can always find something that feels unique at What Goes Around Comes Around.
What are your favorite restaurants in New York City and why?
I really enjoy the rustic American cuisine and decor at Freeman’s. I also like Café Gitane—delicious food and great atmosphere.
